Cowgirl Sweethearts: Lindy Nealey

A dying art will be on display at the Mid-Western Rodeo when two of the world’s best trick riders showcase their unique skills during the rodeo. Trick riding is essentially gymnastics, but on horses. Lindy Nealey and Haley Ganzel are called the Cowgirl Sweethearts--a dainty name for two trick riders who are daredevils in the arena.

An accomplished trick and roman rider, 26-year-old Lindy Nealey from Bloomington, IL began trick riding at the age of 10, and has been performing rodeos, Wild West shows, and dinner theaters over half of her life. After graduation from the University of Illinois with a degree in Environmental Science, Lindy performed stunt work on the film "Cowgirls and Angels 2: Dakota's Summer", a family film with a focus on the trick riding lifestyle. She also performed over 800 shows a year as the featured trick rider at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. In 2014, her roman riding act was named the IPRA Contract Act Showcase Champion and in 2016, Lindy was named the Texas North American Trick Riding Qualifier Champion. Lindy's finesse and graceful style make her death-defying tricks look effortless atop her hard running buckskin quarter horses.

22-year-old Haley Ganzel from Collinsville, Oklahoma began trick riding at the age of 4 after begging her uncle, NFR Contract Act Shawn Brackett, to teach her the trade. A passion for trick riding and the performing lifestyle developed at a young age when Haley had the opportunity to travel with the Great American Wild West Show to some of the greatest rodeo venues in the country. Haley was crowned the 2007 World Champion Trick Rider, competed in the 2016 North American Trick Riding Championships in Las Vegas, and played a role and performed stunt work in the films "Cowgirls and Angels", and "Cowgirls and Angels 2: Dakota's Summer". Haley not only trick rides, but also roman rides and works her dancing horse "Crazy Cloud", where she is proud to display her Cherokee heritage. She would like to thank the Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Businesses for their sponsorship and continual support.

Rodeo City Riders Drill Team
of Manawa, WI

They're Loud - They're Proud - They're Genuine American Cowgirls!!!

In 1999, eight friends performed a short flag presentation routine at the Manawa Mid-Western Rodeo to the strains of The Stars and Stripes Forever and so the Rodeo City Riders Drill Team was born! Over the years, the group has brought improvements to all aspects of the drill team: length and complexity of the routine, more elaborate outfits for both horses and riders, and more performances and competitions every year. The team soon became well known for representing the Stars and Stripes.

The Rodeo City Riders Drill Team is honored to have a chance to give back to the American people, especially the ones who fight to keep our freedom, by giving spectators a show that won't leave a dry eye in the stands! Designed to show off the power and speed of the horse, the talent of the cowgirl and give inspiration to all, the Rodeo City Riders leave you feeling as they do: Proud to be an American!
