Hello! Welcome to the Mid-Western Rodeo website! |

|
Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to read this. The Mid-Western Rodeo will be celebrating 50 years on July 4th, 2008--due mostly to the efforts of the Manawa Lions Club, its members, and countless volunteers from the community. We feel the Mid-Western Rodeo is one of the finest in the Great Lakes Circuit, and hope you can make time to come and see for yourself. The Rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and the PWBR (Professional Women's Barrel Racing)--providing some of the best professional rodeo you'll see. The Mid-Western Rodeo is one of the brief stops along the highway leading to the WNFR (Wrangler National Finals Rodeo), the Superbowl of professional rodeo held each December in Las Vegas, Nevada. The WNFR's 10-day competition is where the top 15 contestants in each of the eight events compete for the coveted title of "World Champion".

As you may or may not know, the Lions Club raises money for many community programs in addition to our main charity "Sight First", which is carried out worldwide through an international chain of Lions Clubs. Local charities include: The Boy & Girl Scouts; Badger State Boys & Girls Camps; High School Scholarship Fund; Food Pantry; Police, Ambulance and Fire Departments; local youth programs; Home Access for the Handicapped; and of course the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt. The Lions camp is an exceptional facility for special needs children--from the visually impaired to those with diabetes (the only camp in the nation accepting diabetic children.) It gives all of these kids the chance to just be a kid and have some fun, not only does it make them better citizens but they affect the lives of all the workers and volunteer staff at the camp. |

This year, Saturday night will be TETWP (Tough Enough to Wear Pink), the contestants will be wearing pink, and we encourage all our guests to wear pink. This will be in support of breast cancer awareness, and a portion of our proceeds will go to the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation. |

Each 4th of July weekend, over 13,000 people (ten times the population of Manawa) offend their families, miss reunions, and give up picnics just to attend our rodeo. To these people we say a big Thank You! To those of you reading this for the first time and have never been to our rodeo…..here is the deal: By purchasing a rodeo admission ticket, not only are you helping someone less fortunate than yourself, you will be entertained with 2 ½ hours of the finest rodeo action in Wisconsin. |

Jim Zinser and his family will be providing his world-class bucking stock again, Roger Mooney will call all the play-by-play, the contestants will be some of the best in the Great Lakes circuit, and of course what rodeo would be complete without the funnyman, so we will have one of the best--Gizmo McCracken--here to keep that smile on your face. |

This is our promise to you – we will strive to provide a clean, safe, inexpensive family event. So pack up the kids, and head over to the Rose Garden of Rodeo in Manawa, Wisconsin and see for yourself what the excitement is all about! |
